Third week

This week was a normal week:
We did our first dance class in languages, we started to learn some information about the gothic literature, we continue analysing the musical Oklahoma, we continue doing our blog, I get the baby of the baby's project to take care of it from Friday to Monday, we started to learn some information about the hunger in geography, we started to analyse the planets of our solar system in science...
In sumary, we did a lot of things but, for me the best thing of the week was the start of the soccer team and its first training on Friday.
The next week we have our first match and I'm very happy.
In this week we also planned a lot of project and things to do.
I think it was a very exciting week and I hope that the next will be better!!!

Ploughing championships

This Tuesday we went to the ploughing championships, a very famous competition in Ireland that I haven't ever hear. I like so much because there were a lot of shops of very different things: tractors, toys, tools, food... And appart from that, the competiton. I think that the competition was boring because there are only tractors dig in the ground, but I passed a great time in the shops. I also tried for the first time a virtual reality glasses called Oculus Rift and it was really good because you think that you are inside the game.
There were also some supermarkets or shops selling hurling or gaelic football equipment.
We had to take the bus 2 hours to go and 2 hours to return but don't matter because I really enjoy it and I passed a good day with my classmates.

Second week

This week was amazing!!!! On Monday and Tuesday we were in the Carlingford Adventure Centre (a trip that I have in another post). On Wednesday, we had our fist class of Home Economics, and we prepared a cooking class for the next week: we are going to do muffins with chocolate tips. We also saw a video of relations about teenagers feelings. We also had languages and we worked in our project of Irish about The Children of Lir. after that we saw a part of the high schools' musical ''Oklahoma'' and finally, the last three hours, we worked in our babys' project doing ''Your baby's life price'', including food, clothes, nappies, toys...
On Thursday, we went to the Kilkenny Transition Year Expo (this trip is also in another post) and in Friday I passed the day with fifth course, and I was in classes like P.E. (we did badminton), maths, English or agriculture. Was a great day!

 

Trip to the TY Expo in Kilkenny

I think that this trip was a little boring because there were a lot of schools and trades with people that offered us a lot of experiences, contests, computer programs and I only going to be here 3 months and I won't can do the trips or the things that the people were offering me.
There were some interesting things, but in my opinion is one of the worsts excursions that I have ever done.
We also had to take the bus 3 hours to go and 3 hours to return. The only good thing was that I passed a good time with my classmates.

Trip to the Carlingford adventure centre

The Monday and Tuesday of my second week of high school, I did a trip with my class to the Carlingford adventure centre. On Monday morning we took the bus in our high school we were in Carlingford, next to North Ireland.

The first day we saw the centre and a monitor called Elliot, explained us the things that we were going to do this day. After leave our baggage in the rooms we did kayak and mini-games in the water and we had a great time, but the water and the day were extremely cold. We also did a group of challenge like do a maze with light or do a go from a plataform to another using only wood boards. For each challenge, the monitor gave us 2 gems, but we only get four because we only did correctly two of them. Finally, at 8 o'clock we did a game related to a murder amd we had to search clues around the town to solve the crime. It was a funny day and in the night we go outside and we walk in the town.

The second day was the best for me, because we did a climbing activity with tirolinas and we had to walk through wooden logs and it was one of the best activities. Finally, we divided the class into two teams and we did a laser war. We played four matches: two team deathmatches, one V.I.P mode and one free for all. For my was the best activity and we laught a lot. After that we comeback to our high school at half past three and we arrived at five o'colck

Hopes and aims for the year

Hopes: For my hopes I think that they are understand better the english, learn new vocabulary and understand better Ireland and it's traditions.
Aims: My aims are improve my teamwork, do my homework and learn new things.
I think that this year will be great and that I'm going to learn a lot of new things and meet a lot of new people, but I'm worried because in many times I think that I won't understand the people that is talking to me. I hope that all will be fine.

Start of the transition year (first day)

The induction day of my transition, I met the high school's principal and two students showed me the centre. After that, our tutor played with us some games to met each others and to work as a team with them. At twelve o'clock, we started the classes with woodwork and bussiness and we had to think about a wooden object to do it.                    
When we did the second break, our theacher explained us the things that we were going to do this course and finally we had geography.
I think that was a good day because I met my class and my tutor and I learned the things that we are going to do this year.

My first week

This week I met a lot of new people and all of them were very kind: teachers, classmates ... My first day was the worst because I think that I had too much english for one day. Here there are interesting subjects. This week I did: woodwork and enterprise, P.E., maths, english, languages, music and drama, science, web design and art... It was a very interesting week because the teachers said us a lot of project and trips, and I have my first trip on Monday of my first week to an adventure park. The first day was too difficult to understand all but I think that I will understand more every day. I'm too happy with my teachers and my classmates and I am learning a lot of new things. I had some interesting homework like do sketches or search famous ireland's stories, but I had a resling time on wednesday because all the people of my class went to take his junior certificate. I hope that the next week will be amazing because I wiil have two trips. I will write about that. Good for the moment.       Eric.
