Shoebox Appeal

Some weeks ago a woman come to our class to explain us the Shoebox  Appeal project. It consists in buy some things related to the four ''w''. We have to buy things for the children to wash, write, wear and something ''wow''. That is a surprise for the kids like a toy, a Teddy Bear or some sweets.
When the woman was gone we had one week to buy all the materials for the boxes and give it to the teacher in time with some money (4 euros) for correspondence.

Another days we worked in the Shoebox Appeal in SPHE. We had to check all the shoeboxes and see if they had all the things required ( something to wash, something to write...)
Finally, some days ago they come to take all the shoebox and said us thank you, and that day we where very happy because we know that we have made happy a lot of kids.

Comparison Ireland vs. Spain:
1. Ireland:
The Republic of Ireland occupies most of the island of Ireland, off the coast of England and Wales. Its eastern capital, Dublin, is the birthplace of writers including Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett, and home of Guinness beer. Nicknamed the "Emerald Isle” for its lush landscape of rolling green hills, it’s dotted with castles and ancient sites, such as massive 12th-century Cahir Castle.

2. Spain:
Spain, on Europe’s Iberian Peninsula, is really 17 autonomous regions, each with its own geography and culture. The capital, Madrid, is home to the Royal Palace and singular Prado museum, housing works by European masters, and Segovia to the north has a fairy-tale medieval castle and Roman aqueduct. Catalonia’s capital, Barcelona, is defined by Antoni Gaudí’s quirky modernist architecture, including the Sagrada Família basilica.

Law Course

On Monday and Tuesday of the seventh week a barrister of Galway called James Fahy come to our class to teach us a law course. We were the whole Monday and Tuesday and we learned a lot of things.
The first day we talked about the law in Ireland and the courts that you can find. We also talked about the barristers, the solicitors, the judges and the lawyers. It also explained us some civil cases that he did and the result of them.

I think the first day was the hardest because the law its a very difficult topic and more if it isn't in your own language.
On Tuesday we talked about a lot of different criminal cases, the buildings where the criminal judgments take place and the resolution for them. There were many interesting cases of murders, violations or only simply confusions that ends in the jail. Another thing that we did was try to decide the result of some very difficults cases like if we were the judges and was very difficult decide because both answer had reason.

Finally we simulated a real judgment of a case of violent behavior in a plane.
Some people were barristers, another solicitors, James was the judge, another people were witnesses like the captain of the plane, some staff of the plane, the guard that capture the suspect and some passengers. Finally the people left were the popular jury.
At the end of the judgment the accused was declared guilty and he had to pay a fine of 5 euros!!!
It was a good experience and my favourite part was to know strange real cases of criminals or normal people. See you in the next post!!!!!

Spanish life (2)

Hello!! In this post I want to talk about a topic that some people asked me about Spain and I think they are not correct about it. They said me that if in Spain we like to kill bulls... Mmmm, OK. In Spain is a ''tradition'' do bullfights and finally the bullfighter kill the bull.
This tradition is more of the mainland of Spain than in the Canary Islands that the place that I live, and there are less bullfights than in the mainlands.
I think that this tradition, in my opinion is very absurd because you killing an animal, a living being, only for fun, not all the Spanish people like the bullfights and like see how to an animal die, it's more, there are a lot of people that think like me and a lot animal protection associations that are trying to ban this type of activities, but that it's difficult because many people like it and it's considered a ''tradition''.
I saw the obligation to do this post because many people was asking me and I think that is a topic that I had to talk about. Thank you for read it and have a good day :-)

Trip to Moate: Art in the Park

The Thursday of the fifth week we went to Moate, in Athlone, to a park called ''Dun na si''. We went there to find ideas for sculptures to participate in the competition that the park organise every year. We left the high school at nine o'clock and we arrived in Moate one hour after.
First we went around the park taking pictures of the sculptures and then we walk around it taking notes and sketches of the sculptures.

After that we walk to the centre of the town and we went to a Supermac's and a Supervalue and finally we return to our high school and we arrived there at quarter past two.
I think that it was a good trip because it helped me to find ideas for my art project and I also went to a new place in Ireland.
I like so much the park and the town and I would another day to that place. See you!!!

Fourth week

It was a very intense week and I'm learning a lot of things!

Baby's project

This weekend I had to look after a baby (is not a real baby, it's a doll) that cry and I had to change her nappies, feed her or help her to burp or to sleep. It was a experience to think about the responsibilities of be a young father. I didn't like it because sometimes the baby cried like 30 minutes and she also cried in the morning at four o'clock and the next day I was very tired. We also had to write the hours that the baby cried, what we were doing at that moment and also what care does the baby need.
I still have to do another works like the price of my baby's life that is put a total price per day, month and year for all the things that the baby need. And also I have to do a poster talking about a topic related with babies.
Conclusion: It was a good experience but... don't be a young father. See you in the next post!

Spanish Life (1)

In this type of posts I'm going to talk about Spanish life and customs. In the first post (this) I'm going to put here some Spanish music of my favourites Spanish singers.
This song is "Por fin te encontre" of Cali y el Dandee ft. Juan Magan and Sebastian Yatra.
If you like the music you can find more information in: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cali_%26_El_Dandee . There are some of their songs with lyrics in English in Youtube.
